If Republicans Want To Regulate Abortion, Maybe They Should Learn About It First

A couple of days ago, I posted an article responding to a handful of lies coming from the anti-abortion movement. However, although I did go after a fair number of claims — both old and new — I did not even manage to scratch the surface of lies from this movement. On 5/6/2022, National Public Radio published an article called “7 persistent claims about abortion, fact-checked,” going after even more lies — and they did not even scratch the surface.

Back in 2021, Charlie Kirk was shown a photograph by Ben Gleib of a dolphin fetus and asked if he thought it was a human life, and he said yes. NateTalksToYou did the same thing recently with a pig embryo, and got the same result from some in the anti-abortion movement.

In general, the anti-abortion movement does not seem to understand how dissimilar embryos look to humans. Back in 2019, a woman named Emily Robinson posted a picture of a fetus at nine weeks with the following note:

look at this little baby just 9 weeks old. those tiny little hands, those tiny little fingers, that tiny smile, that precious life #Prolife

Anybody who saw the pictures quickly noticed they looked nothing like a human being — and the replies mocking her point out such. It should also be noted, fetuses do not get
