The Push To Normalize Pedophilia

Yesterday, I talked about psychologist James Cantor and his constant insistence that pedophilia is not something we as a society should demonize. However, although Cantor is part of a fringe movement, it should be noted that this does not mean his movement does not have some powerful players.

Earlier this month, Dr. Allyn Walker, a professor at Old Dominion University in Virginia, made national news when he said that pedophiles should instead be called “minor attracted persons.” Mind you, considering “pedo” is Latin for “child” and philia is Greek for “friendship” or “affinity,” Walker is basically saying we should use the term “minor attracted person” instead of a word which translates to nearly the same thing in English.

Walker has since been forced to step down, but the fact it even got to this point is certainly distributing — especially considering this opinion of Walker’s was never a secret. Earlier this year, Walker published a book titled A Long, Dark Shadow: Minor Attracted People And Their Pursuit Of Dignity. The book makes a very clear push to compare the plight of pedophiles to the plight homosexuals once faced — with chapter two even being titled “Staying Closeted And Coming Out As A MAP.”
