James Cantor: Transgender People Are Bad, Pedophiles Are Fine

Scrolling through Twitter on 11/28/2021, I found this tweet from Sexologist and psychologist James Cantor on the topic of a proposed conversion therapy ban in the United Kingdom:

It’s impossible to ban conversion therapy for sex orientation AND gender identity. Transition IS conversion therapy: Transition is the difference between a gay son and a straight daughter. Banning therapy to become comfortable as gay IS the pressure to live as straight.

Of course, this idea is utter nonsense. The idea that men are transitioning into women in order to stop being gay (as if someone would undergo costly treatment and possible operations in order to not have a sexual orientation that is widely accepted by most people today) has no basis in reality in the vast majority of the modern world. This also ignores the entire existence of male-to-female transgender people who date women — although Cantor, following in the footsteps of his good friend Ray Blanchard, has simply dismissed them as fetishists who are aroused at the thought of being women (this is the infamous, and long debunked, Autogynephilia hypothesis).
