Why Lily Cade Matters

On 10/4/2021, the BBC updated its article “We’re being pressured into sex by some trans women” to remove all mentions of noted sexual predator Lily Cade, writing in a note under the article:

We have updated this article, published last week, to remove a contribution from one individual in light of comments she has published on blog posts in recent days, which we have been able to verify. We acknowledge that an admission of inappropriate behaviour by the same contributor should have been included in the original article.

The event that appeared to cause Cade’s removal from the article was her recent comments calling for the murder of every transgender person. Mind you, Cade was already well known as a rapist, a transphobe, and an overall bad person long before the BBC article came out, and it appears the BBC was willing to sweep all of that under the rug on the condition she kept her nose clean from that point forward.

The response of the TERF movement to Cade’s recent actions has been either complete silence or total disassociation. Although a handful have defended her (with one TERF even considering leaving the movement because so few will stick on for Cade) most are not only willing to disown her, but are mad at those who keep bringing her up.
