On 12/3/2023, the YouTube channel Scubeskitchen uploaded a video where an old man — played by fellow YouTuber Jarrod Benson — asks for Meatloaf. The elderly gentleman is informed by a waiter that the restaurant does not serve his desired meal, he responds by pointing out this is America, a country where people eat Meatloaf.

I was reminded of this when I saw a tweet from Auron MacIntyre, where he says “[The American people] are not a tax farm, we are a nation.” This is not the first time MacIntyre has felt the need to tell his audience what America is not, with him previously tweeting “America is not a sports team or a corporation or an economic zone.” He goes on to say “It is a people with a shared culture, tradition, way of being.”

There is no justification to the claim that either Greenland or Canada have “a shared culture, tradition, way of being” with the United States, they are different countries which developed in unique ways totally separate from this country.

Of course, I also forced to wonder what a “way of being” means in this context, given MacIntyre has consistently spoken out against people who attempt to tie…
