What Christians Never Understand About Atheists

On 1/22/2022, the atheist YouTuber Genetically Modified Skeptic published a video called “I took a Christian class about atheism. It was worse than I expected.” In the video, he takes a class from the Christian University Stand to Reason about how to argue with atheists, run by Christian apologist Greg Koukl, the author of the 2009 book Tactics: A Game Plan for Discussing Your Christian Convictions.

I should note that, despite this course being about how to argue with atheists, Koukl never once actually argues with any well known atheists. He does not go through the works of famous atheists — Richard Dawkins and Christopher Hitchens come to mind, as they were both very important in turning many people into in the 2000’s atheists — and explains his issues with them, instead we just get him talking about what these vague atheists believe while barley ever naming names.

Of course, the same cannot be said about most atheists. Even just flipping through books like Richard Dawkins’s The God Delusion and Christopher Hitchens’s god Is Not Great, you’ll find many references to fundamental Christian texts and responses to both famous and contemporary apologists for various forms of theism.
