Trump’s Ideologically Incoherent Team
This article is dedicated to Jeremy Boreing, who wrote on 1/29/2025 regarding the nomination of Robert F. Kennedy Jr.:
I’ll ignore the weird statement that Presidents just “should get” their cabinet picks — the Constitution specifically says that a nomination should only be confirmed if the Senate consents to it, regardless of how many have already been rejected — and instead point out that, for once, Boreing is right, regardless of whatever one may think regarding Kennedy, he certainly isn’t a conservative — so why does a right-wing administration want him so badly?
If one seriously looks at who Trump has nominated to his cabinet, we find nothing but utter ideological incoherence. What, in practice, does Marco Rubio have in common with somebody like Tulsi Gabbard? Where do Pete Hegseth and Robert F. Kennedy Jr. find any sort of common ground outside of their support for Trump?
