Trump, Gaza, and Reality

Last night, The Daily Show ran a segment on the topic of Trump’s plan in Gaza, discussing the disagreement of this even among the Republican Party along with how much of a moral and practical issue such an action would be. It also makes note of how some of Trump’s supporters — with their example being Steve Doocy of Fox & Friends — do not believe this will be the final deal Trump implements.

Mind you, a 2/6/2025 article from The Guardian specifically notes how Trump is doubling down on his announced plan despite opposition from his party, so it is quickly seeming like that early optimism will not lead to anything in the long run. Of course, one would think that an “America First” politician, as Trump has previously declared himself, would be willing to scrap a policy not supported by the democratically elected representatives of the United States. However, instead Donald Trump is ignoring what the American people want and is engaging in a plan that is only popular in Israel. Trump is also expecting the US to go along with a relocation project where those currently in Palestine are moved to nations like Jordan and Egypt — remember, the narrative pushed by Trump and his buddies is that these people are also exclusively terrorists who want nothing more than the destruction of the West. If that is true, then placing these radicals into other nations — both of which have democratically elected leaders —…
