The Trans Agenda (And Other Nonsense Perpetuated By Bigots)
“Children are being ‘brainwashed’ by TikTok videos on ‘cool’ trans surgery viewed 26 billion times, campaigners claim,” ran a Daily Mail headline on 12/25/2021. Of course, the only two campaigners listed in the article are Kate Harris of the LGB Alliance and Stephanie Arai-Davies of Transgender Trend.
The article makes a simple case: Because there are transgender people on the app TikTok, which is primarily used by young people, this means that young people are becoming transgender in order to imitate random celebrities. Of course, the article offers no evidence to actually back up this claim — instead, the most they do is say that some people are claiming it, and therefore we should take it seriously.
At one point, the article quotes Kate Harris as having said:
She offers no evidence for this claim.
I have heard similar arguments before, in 2012 a young radio host named Caiden Cowger uploaded a video onto his YouTube channel called “Obama Is Turning Kids Gay.” According to Cowger, Barack Obama, through saying homosexuality is okay, is turning kids — many of whom used to be his friends — into homosexuals…
