The Trade War Is Not Meant To Be Won
The war, therefore, if we judge it by the standards of previous wars, is merely an imposture. It is like the battles between certain ruminant animals whose horns are set at such an angle that they are incapable of hurting one another. But though it is unreal it is not meaningless. It eats up the surplus of consumable goods, and it helps to preserve the special mental atmosphere that a hierarchical society needs. War, it will be seen, is now a purely internal affair. In the past, the ruling groups of all countries, although they might recognize their common interest and therefore limit the destructiveness of war, did fight against one another, and the victor always plundered the vanquished. In our own day they are not fighting against one another at all. The war is waged by each ruling group against its own subjects, and the object of the war is not to make or prevent conquests of territory, but to keep the structure of society intact. The very word ‘war’, therefore, has become misleading. It would probably be accurate to say that by becoming continuous war has ceased to exist. The peculiar pressure that it exerted on human beings between the Neolithic Age and the early twentieth century has disappeared and been replaced by something quite different. The effect would be much the same if the three super-states, instead of fighting one another, should agree to live in perpetual peace, each inviolate within its own boundaries. For in that case each would still be a self-contained universe, freed for ever from the sobering influence of external danger. A peace that was truly permanent would be the same as a permanent war. On 6/17/2020, former National Security Advisor John Bolton revealed that President Trump had called concentration camps built by Chinese President Xi Jinping for the Muslim minority “exactly the right thing to do.”
Of course, Trump had been accused of wanting to do the same to Muslims for a long time. During his Presidential campaign, Trump had called for a national database of all Muslim, as well as a complete ban on Muslim immigration. Trump was also accused of creating Concentration Camps due to footage of the camps ICE put undocumented immigrants into. (Yes, the policy was started by Barack Obama, but that does not make it any better.)
The same day this information came out, Trump signed legislation sanctioning China over these camps. To some, this proved that the Bolton quotes were fake — they are much more trusting than I am. The bill to sanction China was passed back in May, and Trump could have signed it at any point afterwards. Am I the only one who finds it odd that the President waited until a quote related to him praising the men who are supposed to be our enemies to sign this bill? Hey, it makes more sense than Donald Trump caring about the rights of Muslims.
Yeah, that’s another thing that should be pointed out. Trump ran for President on a hardcore platform against Islam and Muslims. Here are some quotes from him on the topic of Muslims (thanks to MPower Change for compiling them, I’m only giving you the “best” ones) before he became President:

I find the idea that this President cares about Muslims much more of a reach than the idea that the President signed waited for this information to come out before signing a sanction bill.
However, one other piece of information is quite important. That being the President asking Chinese President Xi Jinping to buy more products from the United States to help Trump win re-election in 2020.
But, wait a minute, I thought trade with China was the issue. Isn’t that why we’re in this trade war in the first place? Trump on the campaign trail said Chinese trade was “raping us,” now he wants to expand it so he’ll win re-election?
Worst of all are his comments when talking to Xi Jinping. As Bolton revealed, Trump said that Trump called President Xi the best President of China in all of history! Mind you, this is during the a time where Trump is trying to accuses Biden of being the candidate of China.
The trade war, at this point, is a political game. The anti-China narrative is not done because of some fear of China, but for the purpose of making Donald Trump look better. The trade war is simply one giant power grab, nothing else could describe it.
