The Right To Take Away Our Rights In Peace

This article is dedicated to Jenny Beth Martin, specifically for her 7/16/2022 article for Townhall “Who Needs to Pack the Court When You Can Intimidate Justices into Retiring Early?” The article is in response to a series of protests against the Supreme Court following its recent far right rulings, the most well known one being Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, which overturned the 1973 case Roe v. Wade. One might remember that the backlash against the Supreme Court’s Dobbs ruling was so intense, they felt the need to put snippers on the building of the Supreme Court in order to protect the Justices.

The article is mostly a condemnation of the more violent protests, which is a sentiment I agree fully with. However, the last two paragraphs of the article turns it from just another fluff piece against violence to something a tad more sinister:

Our Founders gave judges and justices lifetime appointments for a simple reason — so they would be insulated from public pressure. Determining what is proper in the law is not a function of what is popular, but of what is Constitutional; insulation from public pressure is a necessary precondition to the ascertainment of what is just. The radical left, with its pressure campaign against the justices who have shown the courage to rule properly, aims to destroy that constitutional framework and put
