The Only Person Who Had The 2024 Election Stolen From Them Was Biden (Part 2)
One point constantly forgot during the push to remove Biden as the nomination was why the Democratic Party stopped having the ticket decided purely at the convention. The most famous example of this causing a problem happened in 1968, where the party nominated Vice President Hubert Humphrey over Senator Eugene McCarthy despite McCarthy getting more votes in the primaries and actually managing to win the contests, resulting in riots and a split among the Democrats and progressives which ultimately led to the election of Richard Nixon.
However, this episode is not the only example of a nomination not being what the members of the Democratic Party actually wanted. A clearer example of this can be found in both 1952 and 1956, when the DNC decided to nominate the same man twice, Adlai Stevenson.
Stevenson was Truman’s handpicked successor, dating back to when he decided he was not going to re-election in 1952. However, Stevenson didn’t even plan on running for President until the convention that year, when his welcoming address to delegates was viewed as so powerful that it caused many to determine he should be the nomination.
