This article is dedicated to Eliza Mondegreen, a Twitter user who posted a thread on 6/8/2022 on a topic she dubs “phobia indoctrination.” Here is how she describes it in the first tweet of this thread:

Phobia indoctrination instills irrational fears in members of a high-control group and uses those fears to manipulate members so they won’t question the group’s beliefs or try to leave.

The thread basically says that hyperbolic claims are hyperbolic — and then says that some transgender cult is intentionally using hyperbolic claims to make more people transgender. It should be noted that very rarely is the evidence that these claims are being said quotes from actual transgender people, instead, on the few occasions evidence can be presented, it is just a screenshot of a quote from a fellow transphobe.

The thread ends with Eliza listing things that a better transgender community would do, writing:

A healthy, open, supportive trans community would not look or sound like the trans community we’ve got. It would be honest about the risks trans people face, rather than wildly inflating those risks to instill fear.
