The End Of Gender Is A Terrible Book On Every Level

Those who have read my blog for awhile have likely figured out that I’m not a fan of Debra Soh. When I gave her the first Third Gamete Award in my article “Explaining Gametes To Transphobes (Because Someone Really Needs To),” a fellow named Hermes Solenzol (who also very much misunderstood the concept of scientific exceptions), wrote the following:

Although I disagree with Dr. Soh ideas, I find personal attacks like this profoundly repellent. This is yet another example of cancel culture. We should draw a line between attacking ideas and attacking people. Anybody with a minimal respect for science and rationality knows better than to engage on an “ad hominem” attack.

Of course, I never once used an ad hominem attack on Debra Soh, I simply responded to her arguments. An ad hominem would involve me doing something like not responding to an argument and instead attacking her over something irrelevant in an attempt to discredit her. For example, me accusing the people who disagree with me of having some kind of hidden agenda — which Debra Soh does in The End Of Gender:

Others in favor of the “sex is a spectrum” argument will say that a woman who has reached menopause, who is no longer producing eggs, is still considered a woman, and by the same token, a man who has had his testicles removed is still…
