The Biden Game

Back during the 2012 Republican Primaries, the base was looking for anyone who could beat then president Obama, except Mitt Romney. As recorded in Why The Right Went Wrong by E.J. Dionne Jr., of Why Americans Hate Politics fame, every Republican candidate got a surge in popularity before Iowa in January 2012. Only Romney remained steady in the polls (with Ron Paul slowly rising, but never enough to really go anywhere) while candidates Newt Gingrich, Rick Perry, Herman Cain, Michele Bachmann, and Rick Santorum all were the front runners at one point during the process.

I’m reminded of this when I look at the poll numbers going ahead towards 2020. Biden and Sanders have both remained about neck and neck, and which one gets the nomination really only depends on rather younger or older voters cast more ballots in the primary.

However, 3rd place has been changing every couple of days. Senator Amy Klobuchar, Rep. Beto O’Rourke, Senator Kamala Harris, Senator Cory Booker, and Mayor Pete Buttigieg (who has not even officially announced his presidential run yet), have all been 3rd place at some point in the past couple of months. Just as the Tea Party Republicans looked for anyone other than Romney, the New Democrat centrist wing is looking for anyone other than Bernie Sanders.

I have already covered both the lack of substance allowed in the primary as well as the smearing of other progressive candidates, however, I must come back to this issue as it is never ending. Already, many fluff pieces have been written by the on many of the presidential candidates who have never been in the lead. On 11/7/2018, Slate ran an article simply called “Don’t Overthink It, Just Nominate Beto in 2020.” It is one paragraph, and simply says the following:

He did astoundingly well for a Texas Democrat. He’s already got a national profile. He’s proved he can raise a ton of money without indebting (sic) himself to corporations. His Uplifting Articulate Guy persona presents a clear alternative to Trumpism (sic) without coming across as scolding or patronizing. While he lost his Senate race, he has experience in Congress, but not so much experience that past votes will haunt him. He’s shown a rare willingness to answer tough questions. And as the clip above indicates, he has the charisma to make a live-TV F-word somehow come across as endearing and wholesome. Beto 2020 — why not?

This is all a response to an election Beto had just lost.

This week, what we all already kind of knew was confirmed. Former Vice President Joe Biden was accused of sexually harassing a woman, with another allegation happening within hours.

Brain Krassenstein, hereby known as Brain Casanova (although Brain Frankenstein works to) had this to say:

Trump attacked Biden for kissing the back of a woman’s head, while he, himself, has been accused of:

— Raping his own wife

— Walking in on Naked Teens at Miss Univ. Dressing room

— Raping a 13-year-old child

— Raping, groping or sexually assaulting 17 other women

SICK IRONY!

Notice how Casanova doesn’t mention the largest factor, the fact it was non-consensual. This isn’t a game of “who can do the least awful rape?” If you have engaged in “kissing the back of a woman’s head,” you have engaged in sexual assault if it was without the consent of the woman.

In other news, Washington Post columnist Dana Milbank published a column titled “Bernie Sanders has emerged as the Donald Trump of the left.” Meaning, I assume, he will be in the White House.

Milbank’s other greatest hit has been “Trump will lose, or I will eat this column,” published on 10/2/2015.

Here’s the first three paragraphs of the article:

In politics, as in physics, every action has an equal and opposite reaction.

Hence, Sen. Bernie Sanders’s emergence as the Donald Trump of the left.

Fundraising and polls show that many Democrats think the best answer to an angry old white guy with crazy hair, New York accent and flair for demagoguery is, well, another angry old white guy with crazy hair, New York accent and flair for demagoguery. It’s not difficult to picture a scenario in which Bernie captures the Democratic presidential nomination with the same formula that worked for Trump with Republicans in 2016.

Here’s the last paragraph:

This columnist’s wife, Anna Greenberg, works for John Hickenlooper, a Democratic presidential candidate.

That should be the first paragraph of the article, not the last.

To put it simply, the mainstream media has a bias against Bernie and is hiding the truth about Biden. Just as they did in 2016.
