The BBC And Why Lesbian Abuse Is Ignored

At this point, it is very well known that the BBC’s 10/26/2021 article “We’re being pressured into sex by some trans women,” is awful. Transgender rights organizations have protested outside the BBC, other groups wrote letters demanding the BBC apologize, and still others went to NBC and had them publish an article responding to the BBC’s claims.

However, among all the talk of the article being horrible, one thing that has been ignored is the actual stories of the women involved.

Take the story of Amy, one of the lesbians mentioned in the article. According to the story the BBC tells, her girlfriend attempted to force her into a threesome with a transgender woman. When Amy said she had no interest in doing such, her girlfriend then attempted to guilt her and verbally manipulate her before breaking up with her.

The article talks about a fringe group — and the article admits this group is rather fringe, that’s not me putting words in their mouth — of LGBT people who believe genital preferences are transphobic. Personally, I do not agree with this statement. However, even if it were something I felt was true, that would still not make it okay to pressure and coerce someone into sex with a transgender person.
