Space Travel Is Dumb
On 3/21/2021, SpaceX founder Elon Musk tweeted the following:
I am accumulating resources to help make life multiplanetary & extend the light of consciousness to the stars
Senator Bernie Sanders, known for his willingness to tip the most sacred cows in American society, quote Twitted Elon Musk with the following:
Space travel is an exciting idea, but right now we need to focus on Earth and create a progressive tax system so that children don’t go hungry, people are not homeless and all Americans have healthcare. The level of inequality in America is obscene and a threat to our democracy.
Now, I don’t know if you agree with the policy proposals Bernie endorses, but that’s not what matters. What does matter is that in this tweet, Bernie Sanders calls out one of the biggest Gods of modern society: Space travel. The one thing we’re supposed to never question and just mindlessly spend money on no matter how little we get in return.
On 10/23/2020, the official GOP Twitter account tweeted the following while trying to convince people to vote for a second Trump term:

Establish Permanent Manned Presence on The Moon
Send the 1st Manned Mission to Mars
Build World’s Greatest Infrastructure System
Establish National High-Speed Wireless Internet Network
It should be noted that this was written during a pandemic as well as massive civil unrest as the result of police shootings of various Black Americans. Yet, the number one thing Trump planned on promoting in hopes of bringing him to a second term — was his plans for more people in space. This makes sense considering this is the same man who gave the United States military a Space Force — without ever actually telling us why we need one. The President even took some time out of his 2020 schedule to stop focusing on riots and pandemics, so he could watch a rocket go up.
Of course, there’s a reason why the powers above never want us to question space-funding. It’s something they tell us is important, but not important enough to be done in a timely manner.
Now, some might point out in response to the claim above that NASA is constantly audited and passes every time with flying colors. However, I did not say that NASA is dishonest regarding how the money they spend money, instead, I’m saying they’re being dishonest about how much what they spend the money on will impact the world.
According to the powers that be, if we just spend a little more money on space travel, an intergalactic future awaits us. Of course, it has been over fifty years since the moon landing and we have not once actually gone to another planet — but you know. For that matter, ignore the fact that NASA has to keep releasing the same “breaking news” over and over again, hence why we keep finding out there’s water on Mars every couple of years. Hence why every few years we find a new story that proves life on other planets — oh but if you actually believe in life on other planets that’s intelligent enough to visit Earth you’re a crazy conspiracy theorist.
However, nobody ever seems to answer the most fundamental question about space-travel, what is the point of spending large amounts of money on something we won’t see the results of for decades? Shouldn’t we instead be spending money on things that improve life now as oppose to things that improve life decades from now? Truth be told, the major reason why the population is fine with this is because we’ve had our consent manufactured to the point where we truly believe the impossible will come. Sorry folks, but the impossible will not come, that is why such things are called impossible.
Space travel is a waste of government money, and I’m tired of pretending it’s not.
