Ron DeSantis Is Only Popular Because Fox News Wants Him To Be

Ever since Joe Biden was inaugurated President on 1/20/2021, Flordia Governor Ron DeSantis has been the number one choice for Republicans to run against Biden (or potentially Harris) in 2024. A poll from back in July found that, with the exception of Donald Trump himself, DeSantis is the most popular choice among Republicans for 2024.

Personally, I find all this talk about 2024 to be kind of silly — 2022 hasn’t even come yet, let’s see where the Republican Party is after the midterms and go from there. The fact is, DeSantis barely won the race that made him governor in the first place. A poll from after the recent surge of COVID-19 in Flordia even found that DeSantis might lose re-election in 2022, showing him losing to former Flordia governor and Republican-turned-Democrat Charlie Crist. Another poll shows that Ron DeSantis’s approval rating has tanked since the beginning of August, again because of the recent surge of COVID-19 in the state he runs.

If DeSantis cannot even win re-election in Florida, it’s very unlikely he’ll be able to win a federal election come 2024, and he would have to win two — the primary and the general election — in order to become President. However, there is one network that is really trying to push Ron DeSantis as hard as possible, and that network is Fox News.
