My What Is A Woman Style Question For Transphobes

Back in my article “Bigotry, ‘The Ephrom Test,’ And Invisible Cisgender Dragons,” I wrote that a good hypothesis can — at least in theory — be falsified if enough evidence is brought forward. I mention this because ever since Matt Walsh released his film What Is A Woman? back in June, the definition of the word “woman” has been on the mind of everyone. The controversy only became worse when Merriam-Webster updated their definition of “female” to “having a gender identity that is opposite of male.” Mind you, the biological definition was kept — because the same word can have multiple meanings — but that explicit recognition of its use in the context of gender identity still angered many transphobes.

The central hypothesis of transphobia is this: Whatever sex you are at birth, that’s the sex you’re always going to be. For that matter, civilization should always recognize what biological sex you are and should — at least to some extent — treat you differently based on it. For example, somebody of the female biological sex should be allowed in certain spaces people of the male biological sex should not be allowed in.

Now, for the sake of argument, we will ignore my issues with that central hypothesis during this article. Instead, I want to ask a simple question to anybody who agrees with the statement above: What would somebody have to do in order to prove you wrong? Remember, real science — not matter how concrete and fundamental to our understanding of the universe — is able to be disproven. A future…
