My Inevitable Article On Ivermectin

I’ve honestly been staring at a blank page for the past two or so hours trying to think of some way I could write an article on Ivermectin, the new medication Trump supporters are taking in hopes of curing COVID-19. Specifically, how it’s not even an anti-virus medication, but it’s an anti-parasite medication used on Horses and other farm animals. As the FDA wrote while talking about its use against COVID-19:

Ivermectin tablets are approved by the FDA to treat people with intestinal strongyloidiasis and onchocerciasis, two conditions caused by parasitic worms. In addition, some topical (on the skin) forms of ivermectin are approved to treat external parasites like head lice and for skin conditions such as rosacea. Some forms of ivermectin are used in animals to prevent heartworm disease and certain internal and external parasites. It’s important to note that these products are different from the ones for people, and safe when used as prescribed for animals, only.

Yet, some have started taking it as a COVID-19 cure. The reason is simple, because Fox News told to them. As The Washington Post reported on 8/24/2021:

Perhaps chief among the earliest, most high-profile proponents was Fox News host Laura Ingraham, who pitched the drug long before many in conservative media or even on Fox itself joined her.
