My Disillusionment With The January 6th Committee
Yesterday, the January 6th Committee held yet another hearing — their seventh televised one at time of writing — focusing on the white supremacists Donald Trump radicalized in the lead up to the Storming of the Capitol. A former spokesman for the Oath Keepers — a far-right militia group — did testify, but nothing that he said was anything new. In fact, repeating things that we already knew seems to have been a theme of the hearing — considering we also heard that Donald Trump knew the 2020 Presidential Election wasn’t stolen and that he was rallying dangerous people to engage in extreme acts.
Once again, anyone who has even the slightest interest in this story likely already knows everything that the Committee mentioned. It is not as if this new information has changed anyone’s mind, those who cared about this story figured out what was happening when it occurred and Congress is primarily wasting its time attempting to get clarification on things that were already obvious. Half of the questions might as well have been “Is Donald Trump responsible for the Storming of the Capitol?” Everyone already knows the answer is yes — so what is the point of asking that same question to various people for multiple hours over the course of several hearings?
