On 11/19/2021, Kyle Rittenhouse was acquitted of five charges related to him killing two people and injuring another during a riot in Kenosha, Wisconsin on 8/25/2020. The parents of Anthony Huber, one of the people killed by Rittenhouse, released a statement, which read:

Today’s verdict means there is no accountability for the person who murdered our son. It sends the unacceptable message that armed civilians can show up in any town, incite violence, and then use the danger they have created to justify shooting people in the street.

That’s an important thing to remember: The central question at the heart of the Kyle Rittenhouse trial was if it was aggression to walk up to someone with a highly visible AR-15 during a riot. Considering cans of soup and knives have both been considered deadly weapons by the right-wing over the past year, you would assume a massive gun would at least be seen as dangerous. Even during the Rittenhouse situation, we have been told that plastic bags and skateboards were considered deadly weapons, but guns weren’t.

When Gaige Grosskreutz — the person who Rittenhouse injured — took the stand, he specifically said the only reason he shot at Rittenhouse was because he felt threatened. Again, because Rittenhouse had walked up to him during a riot with a large, visible, and loaded weapon…
