More Transphobic Nonsense: PITT Edition

On 9/24/2021, Graham Linehan reposted an article on his Substack titled “The Power Of The Story.” The article was first posted the previous day by a group calling itself Parents with Inconvenient Truths about Trans (PITT). According to the “about” page of their Substack:

PITT is a space for parents that have been impacted by gender ideology to share their uncensored stories, experiences, and thoughts, while remaining anonymous to protect themselves and their families. Our objective is to inform the public about the devastating impact of gender ideology on our families through our personal experiences. We believe that, when people understand the true picture, they will join us in ending the medicalization of identity for children, teens and young people.

First off, I should note that there seems to be nothing stopping someone from writing a completely fake story and publishing it with this group. While I will not go so far as to say someone has done that, it is very clear that none of the children being talked about in these articles were asked to comment on their parents writings. This is especially an issue because their children are the topics of many of the articles written. Any time the comments of their children are even mentioned, it’s always to dismiss them and argue that they’re actually the victim of some plot. (Anyone who is familiar with the transphobic knows many of their claims are those of the paranoid and conspiratorial.)

Going back to the article Linehan reposted, written by an anonymous user, it attempts to tell us how people will see the gender identity of the 2020s in 2484. Because, as the author puts it:

This story looks back from 2484, which is exactly five hundred years after the date in which George Orwell’s “1984” is set.

Mind you, George Orwell’s 1984 doesn’t actually take place in the year 1984. As Orwell wrote in the first chapter:

To begin with, he did not know with any certainty that this was 1984. It must be round about that date, since he was fairly sure that his age was thirty-nine, and he believed that he had been born in 1944 or 1945; but it was never possible nowadays to pin down any date within a year or two.
