Could John Fetterman Be Who America Needs?

I have to admit, I have been incredibly invested in the campaign of John Fetterman. This Mayor of Braddock turned Lieutenant Governor of Pennsylvania turned Democratic nomination for the Senate has quickly become one of my favorite politicians, as well as someone who I hope to see in politics for years to come. During the course of this election, he has managed to gain traction for being a very successful progressive politician who also looks tough. He doesn’t look like a politician, he looks like someone you would actually come across walking about Pennsylvania — albeit, his appearance is certainly more common in the bad parts of town. This, put together with a manner of speaking that can only be described as “rough,” certainly can give him the appearance of being unprofessional — but that’s an appearance Fetterman is proud to have. Here is how John introduces himself on the official website for his Senate campaign:

John doesn’t look like a typical politician, and more importantly, he doesn’t act like one. He supported legalizing marijuana before it was popular, officiated a same-sex marriage before it was legal, and pushed for single payer healthcare long before it was mainstream. The issues John is running on now are the same issues he’s been working on for the last two decades.
