Caleb Maupin The Spanked Tankie
On 8/19/2022, a Medium account called “CPI Members Speak Out” published an article with the headline “Caleb Maupin’s Former Comrades Speak Out, His Abuses Must Stop!” For those unaware, CPI stands for Center for Political Innovation, a thinktank founded by Caleb Maupin with the goal of promoting socialism.
Caleb Maupin is somebody who I have never liked, if only because his love of various authoritarian regimes put together with his focus on making socialism marketable above all else has led him to say a series of nonsensical things. Maupin is the man who will claim that China is a proletariat state, all while claiming that support for leaders like Assad, Hussein, and Gaddafi are non-negotiable if you want to be on the left. However, despite loving every leader that the United States opposes, Maupin also firmly believes that he is the most parotitic American of them all, and a good Christian on top of that. Maupin is also obsessed with respectability politics, once saying that Thought Slime could not be a good socialist because he has “Slime” in his YouTube name.
What these revelations reveal, however, is that on top of being a bad socialist, Maupin is also a bad person. He would regularly bring up spanking during conversations and then masturbate to the fact that he did so, try to get members of his thinktank to sell themselves to him, and would visit a dominatrix twice a month. The last one is not on its own a bad thing, but it should be noted that the article also says he constantly ran out of money and owned various CPI members hundreds — sometimes thousands — of dollars that he never paid them. At one point, Caleb even said that he would only pay one member back if they signed a non-disclosure agreement, despite the fact that he agreed to pay back that money long before the document was even thought of.
Caleb also forced members of the CPI to live in poverty conditions, leading them to constantly need to dumpster dive and go into sex work in order to survive. However, Caleb would constantly say that this is just how a revolutionary needed to live. Meanwhile, CPI members were also told to use tactics straight out of cults in order to convince people to join their cause. However, given Caleb would constantly divide the members against each other, it should be obvious that their cause was not the class solidarity Caleb talks about as needed to bring socialism.
Caleb Maupin wants to lead a cult, that statement is something that can’t be argued. Even ignoring how he treated CPI as nothing short of his own personal cult with communist aesthetics, Maupin also sent one of the members an argument he had with his wife that included this admission:
Caleb quite literally wants to create something similar to the compound cults of Waco and Ruby Ridge. That is something he just admitted to — and it makes sense why a man like him would defend authoritarian leaders like Joseph Stalin and Kim Jong-Un under the name of promoting leftism. In truth, Maupin has no interest in leftism if it doesn’t allow him to make excuses for power — because power is the only thing he wants.
For the record, I have long known Caleb Maupin as a fake socialist since his debate with Vaush over the topic of tankies. During the conversation, Maupin talked about how Vaush wanted anyone who defended the Soviet Union to be punched in the face by Antifa while arguing that Vaush supports imperialism because he criticizes China. Personally, I’m just happy I found Vaush and breadtube before I found him when I regained interest in leftism in 2020, because otherwise I still might be the libertarian I once was.
The moral of the story is simple: Never trust those who spend all their time trying to defend power, because it’s usually those people who most crave it and want to take advantage of it.
