Biden Should Not Step Aside And Those Suggesting He Should Are Shameful

Have I made it clear over the course of my writing that I really hate The New York Times? I specifically went to their opinion sections the day before this article was published in order to find an example of one of their writers calling for Biden to resign, and the first thing I saw was a column from Thomas Friedman with the headline “President Biden: Teach Them How to Say Goodbye.” Friedman, who has a history of endorsing authoritarian regimes and coined the phrase “rootin’ for Putin,” I should note, comes to this conclusion using rather sloppy reasoning. You see, Donald Trump wants nothing more than for Joe Biden to stay in the race because, as Friedman puts it:

Trump is salivating at the prospect of Biden staying in the presidential race so he can pummel him from now until Election Day with 15-second television and radio ads — not to mention memes on social media — of Biden’s incoherent responses in last week’s debate, each ad asking: Is this the man you want answering the phone at 3 a.m. if the Russians or the Chinese or the Iranians attack us?

The evidence Friedman has for this is, best as I can tell, on the same level as his evidence from the 2000s that the Iraq War only had six months remaining. Outside of a mention that Donald Trump will attack Joe Biden during the campaign — which, yeah…
