Here’s what Data For Progress reported on 8/12/2021 about the popular support for Biden’s decision to withdraw from Afghanistan:

Polling from Data for Progress shows that voters overwhelmingly agree with President Biden’s decision to withdraw U.S. troops from Afghanistan. In an April survey, we found that voters wanted to remove all troops from the nation by a +50-point margin, including a +69-point margin of Democrats, a +58-point margin of Independents, and a +22-point margin of Republicans.

Of course, the Afghanistan War was always a bad idea. The United States entered Afghanistan to overthrow the Taliban government because of the belief that the Taliban had ties to Al-Quida, which were responsible for the attacks on 9/11/2001. Of course, the Taliban offered to hand Al-Quida’s head Osama Bin Laden over to the United States, Bin Laden himself acknowledged that the Taliban was in no way connected to Al-Quida, and reports that Bin Laden had left Afghanistan for Pakistan were circulating as early as 2006. As it happens, the United States killed Bin Laden in Pakistan in 2011. Basically, there was no reason to ever invade in the first place and President Biden is just the first President to see the writing on the wall.
