Anti-Vaccine Nuts Are Back!

With the possibility of a COVID-19 Vaccine being developed, the anti-vaccine movement — a movement most Americans thought to be dead — is making a small comeback. Of them, a loud voice has been a fellow named Dylan, also known as @Education4Libs on Twitter. A popular voice within Q-Anon, Dylan is giving the same nonsense takes regarding vaccines that were debunked a long time ago.

As of writing, that Tweet 20,900 retweets and 49,500 likes. That’s up to 71,400 people who are proud of not getting a COVID-19 vaccine once one is developed.

Here’s why he thinks this whole thing is happening:

My theory revised. The Coronavirus was a premeditated attack by the Deep State designed to generate mass hysteria, crash the economy, quarantine the masses, & push mandated vaccines. But Q flipped it into a white hat operation & is tactically using it to destroy them. #WWG1WGA — 3/12/2020

I should note, according to this person Q-Anon is the result of people who worked for the deep state giving out classified information that prove they’re trying to destroy Donald Trump. The only thing I’ll say in response is, as someone who is a bit of what most would call a “conspiracy theorist” himself, I find it odd that if the deep state is trying to get Donald Trump they also wouldn’t let him be removed from office by the Senate. In fact, it was the same entrenched political establishment these people rail against that saved the Trump presidency from removal from office.

But what are Dylan’s issues with vaccines? Well, I’ll let him explain:

It’s sad. The same people who are worried about their children dying from the Coronavirus are the same ones who are happily injecting their kids & tiny infants with mercury, formaldehyde, MSG, ABORTED FETAL CELLS, animal DNA, glyphosate, & a bunch of other toxic shit. Wake up.

This is the oldest trick of the anti-vaccine movement. Finding a chemical that sounds scary which is in a vaccine without telling us what it’s for.

Mercury has not been in the vast majority of vaccines since the 1990’s. Before then, mercury was used as a preservative in a compound form called Thiomersal. Although some vaccines do still use it, in every case versions without Thiomersal exist and are easy to get. As of right now, the mercury in a tuna-fish sandwich is both in larger doses and much more dangerous that the mercury in every vaccine combined.

Formaldehyde is a similar case. Formaldehyde is defined by the American Cancer Society as:

[A] colorless, strong-smelling gas used in making building materials and many household products.

While Formaldehyde can be dangerous (although usually only when it’s inhaled and even then the only danger comes from excessive exposure) the FDA points out:

Formaldehyde is also produced naturally in the human body as a part of normal functions of the body to produce energy and build the basic materials needed for important life processes. This includes making amino acids, which are the building blocks of proteins that the body needs.

So why is it in vaccines? Well, according to the American Chemistry Council:

It is used to inactivate viruses so that they don’t cause disease (e.g., polio virus used to make polio vaccine) and to detoxify bacterial toxins, such as the toxin used to make diphtheria vaccine.

In truth, the amount of formaldehyde in a newborn is already 50–70 times higher than what they’d get in a single vaccination.

MSG stands for Monosodium glutamate. According to publichealth.com:

MSG is used as a preservative and stabilizer in some vaccines, keeping them effective through heat, cold, and shelf life.

I should also note that MSG is a common additive and flavor enhancer in food already. Is in dangerous? According to Healthline:

While some people assert that the glutamate from MSG can act as an excitotoxin, leading to the destruction of nerve cells, no human studies support this.

The aborted tissue claim is actually more accurate than most people realize, and that I will give him. According to the Bioethics Research Library of the Kennedy Institute Of Ethics:

Some of the vaccines currently used to prevent diseases such as rubella, measles, rabies, poliomyelitis, hepatitis A, chickenpox or smallpox are produced using tissues from human abortions.

However, according to Very Well Health:

Several common vaccines are made by growing the necessary viruses in fetal embryo fibroblast cells. These cells originally came from tissue obtained from two fetuses that were legally and electively aborted in the early 1960s. The same cells have continued to grow in a laboratory and are still used to make vaccines today. No additional fetal cells have been harvested since then, but the topic is controversial because of the original source.

No worry pro-lifers, you aren’t funding any new abortions from getting a vaccination. At worst, you’re funding an abortion that took place sixty years ago.

But why were they used in the first place? According to my previous source:

Fetal cells were originally used because viruses tend to grow better in cells from humans than from animals. Fetal cells do not divide as many times as other cell types, so they can be used for longer.

As expanded on by the Children’s Hospital Of Philadelphia:

The reasons that fetal cells were originally used included:

Viruses need cells to grow and tend to grow better in cells from humans than animals (because they infect humans).

Almost all cells die after they have divided a certain number of times; scientifically, this number is known as the Hayflick limit. For most cell lines, including fetal cells, it is around 50 divisions; however, because fetal cells have not divided as many times as other cell types, they can be used longer. In addition, because of the ability to maintain cells at very low temperatures, such as in liquid nitrogen, scientists are able to continue using the same fetal cell lines that were isolated in the 1960s.

“Animal DNA” is to vague to properly debunk. It’s safe to assume, however, that the reasoning behind using aborted fetal cells also apply to the use of animal DNA in vaccines.

Lastly, there’s glyphosate. Most articles I found talking about it mention its use in the herbicide Roundup, which has been known to cause Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma — a form of blood cancer — among farmers who use it.

However, right off the bat this is suspicious. Roundup has only been proven to be dangerous after constant exposure to it. The farmers who caught Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma after using it were around it every day, spraying it constantly, for years and years.

According to the Genetic Literacy Project:

MAAM [Moms Across America, an organization that is skeptical of vaccines] claims on its website that it contracted with a St. Louis laboratory, which found very low amounts of glyphosate (in the parts per billion range; that equates to about one second in the life of someone 32 years old) in samples of several vaccines — including influenza, DTAP, and MMR. Glyphosate is a favorite target of anti-GMO groups because some genetically modified crops have been engineered to resist the herbicide. Consensus science, including most recently the Environmental Protection Agency, has found is perfectly safe as used.

There you go, every chemical he listed by name is not toxic as used in vaccination.

Considering the tweet ends with “and a bunch of other toxic shit,” I assume even if Dylan does read this article, it won’t change his mind. After all, he seems to have quite a few other chemicals to fall back on, and I’m curious what they are.

I offer this challenge to Dylan, list me every single chemical compound, weird substance, or anything in between you think is making vaccinations dangerous. Seriously, I want to know. And if it turns out you’re right, I’ll gladly admit defeat and join the anti-vaccination movement.

I do not want you to think this is just people on the right being crazy, far from it. Today, the website Natural News — a conspiracy website that’s against basically all forms of medicine — ran an article titled “The Bill Gates Globalist Vaccine Depopulation Agenda . . . As Revealed By Robert F. Kennedy Jr.”

Kennedy is the chairman of Children’s Health Defense, here is how they start their article on vaccinations:

Toxins surround us in many forms, but those found in vaccines are of increasing concern among parents, and rightfully so. As the Children’s Health Defense continues to advocate for transparency and sound science in our nation’s vaccine program, it’s important to note that mercury, still found in some flu shots and other vaccines, isn’t the only substance standing in the way of a safer vaccination schedule.

So it took two sentences for them to just start lying.And yes, this is a lie. I know Kennedy knows better because this has been pointed out to him many times, most notably by John Oliver just under three fucking years ago!

In nine days, Mike Adams, the founder of Natural News, is going to release a nine-part series on the subject of vaccines. I have put my email in, and told the poll it gave me that I’m anti-vaccination (I’m not, if you couldn’t tell), in order to get the pure insanity of these people.

So what does the article say? Well it’s mostly an attack on Bill Gates, due to his push for a COVID-19 vaccine. Here’s one of the more damning claims against Gates:

Global public health advocates around the world accuse Gates of steering WHO’s agenda away from the projects that are proven to curb infectious diseases: clean water, hygiene, nutrition, and economic development. The Gates Foundation only spends about $650 million of its $5 billion dollar budget on these areas. They say he has diverted agency resources to serve his personal philosophy that good health only comes in a syringe.

For the record, that’s still $650 million more than Mike Adams has spent throughout his entire lifetime.

Okay, here’s a real lie:

In 2010, Gates committed $10 billion to the WHO saying, “We must make this the decade of vaccines.” A month later, Gates said in a Ted Talk that new vaccines “could reduce population”.

The Ted Talk Adams links to is Gates “Innovating To Zero” talk. A transcript is available on the Ted Talks website, and nowhere does the phrase “could reduce population,” even come up!

In fact, the word “population” is only used once, when Gates said:

First, we’ve got population. The world today has 6.8 billion people. That’s headed up to about nine billion. Now, if we do a really great job on new vaccines, health care, reproductive health services, we could lower that by, perhaps, 10 or 15 percent. But there, we see an increase of about 1.3.

No mention of decreasing population, in fact, it seems like he’s trying to grow the population more than Mike Adams.

Okay, here’s one last one:

In 2014, the Gates Foundation funded tests of experimental HPV vaccines, developed by Glaxo Smith Kline (GSK) and Merck, on 23,000 young girls in remote Indian provinces. Approximately 1,200 suffered severe side effects, including autoimmune and fertility disorders. Seven died.

So of the 23,000, 5% were damaged in some way and 0.03% died. According to the CDC, if you catch HPV you have a 37% chance of dying from it. That means that Gates vaccine is still 1233.3 times safer than the virus he’s vaccinating against.

Adams has been fighting against vaccines for years. His website is on the spam blacklist on Wikipedia due to it being found to make false or misleading claims, like the ones I just pointed out.

However, this is just the tip of the iceberg my friends, and I plan on exposing as much of this as I can.
