This article is dedicated to a fellow named Shannon, also known by his Twitter handle @PERFECTSWEETlE, who tweeted the following on 5/19/2022:

“Queer” isn’t a sexual orientation. It’s a way for boring heterosexuals to identify into the culture without having to go through the struggle of coming to terms with homosexuality or deal with the potential loss of relationships from coming out.

I saw this and quote tweeted it with the following comment:

I feel like I’m having a stroke trying to understand this.

I then replied to my own tweet with this, to make it clear that, even if Shannon was talking about something real, he would still be spewing utter nonsense:

I still do not get the hatred of the made up epidemic of straight people using labels like “queer.” I would much rather that be the world we live in then one where people get called “queer” while getting the shit beaten out of them. Maybe I’m just queer like that.

This truly is my opinion on this idea that a bunch of straight people are calling themselves “queer” for some reason. If they are doing it, that means the concept of being a “queer” has been so destigmatized that people are actively identifying into it — and I honestly fail to see an issue with that. If anything, I view it as the greatest indicator of progress for the LGBT…
